A Glimpse into Sykesville's Heart

The "Doors of Historic Sykesville" poster features the front doors of 30 homes, each with its own personality and story to tell. This limited-edition piece is more than just a visual delight; it is a celebration of Sykesville's rich history and the pride we share in our community.

Meet the Artist: Erica Kavadias

We had the privilege of working with Erica Kavadias, a talented local photographer whose passion for capturing the essence of people, places, and things is evident in every frame. Erica's journey in photography began at a young age, leading her to earn a degree in Photography from UMBC. Her work has graced juried art shows, local magazines, and websites, making her a perfect choice for this special project.

Reflecting on the project, Erica shared, "I have greatly enjoyed creating the 'Doors of Historic Sykesville' project along with the team from The Downtown Sykesville Connection. The doors each have their own personality. Spending time photographing each door while highlighting its textures, colors, and unique features, such as door knockers and door handles, has been a fun and rewarding creative experience. It is an honor to have been selected to create this beautiful collection of doors that will live on to document the history, architecture, and character of Historic Sykesville."

Limited-Edition Opportunity

We are excited to announce the release of 50 limited-edition framed posters, available exclusively to our community during the pre-sale. This is your chance to own a piece of Sykesville's history before the posters are offered to the public. Each purchase supports the ongoing projects, programming, and operations of the DSC, helping us to continue nurturing the vibrant spirit of our town.

Thank You to Our Community

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who graciously allowed their doors to be featured in this artwork. Your contributions have made this project a true reflection of Sykesville's character and charm.

Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to celebrate Sykesville's unique architectural heritage and support the DSC's mission.

Together, let's cherish the beauty of Sykesville, one door at a time.
