This year, the family of Donna Box is proud to sponsor our Art & Wine Festival—and we’re honored to celebrate Donna’s colorful spirit in the most fitting way: through her artwork, laughter, and love for this community.
Donna was more than a talented artist. She worked in the Carroll County School System, a joyful volunteer, and a friend with zesty humor and a deep love for life. Her art spoke volumes, but so did her actions—and she left a lasting mark on all who knew her, especially her sister and sister-in-law, Denise Rowe and Leslie George-Rowe.
We’ll be raffling off a print of this piece of Donna’s original art throughout the event—raffle tickets are just $10—so you can take home a piece of her radiant legacy. Winner announcement will take place at 3:30 pm. Some of you may remember seeing this truck downtown Sykesville.
Donna was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia in July 2013, Donna faced her illness with grace and determination. After a year of remission and a courageous three-year battle—including a bone marrow transplant from her beloved younger brother—Donna passed away on August 13, 2016, just two days after the procedure.
Though she’s no longer with us, her creative spirit lives on in every brushstroke and every laugh shared in her memory. So come raise a glass, celebrate the arts, and honor the incredible life of Donna Box at this year’s Art & Wine Festival.
