The Thoughtful Pages Club is a monthly book discussion group hosted by Park Books on Main and the Downtown Sykesville Connection JEDI Committee. We offer a welcoming space for readers to explore powerful books, reflect together, and connect across experiences. Each month features literature that challenges perspectives, sparks meaningful dialogue, and aligns with cultural moments such as Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Pride Month—using stories as catalysts for growth, understanding, and positive change.
What to Expect

Who Can Join?
Everyone is welcome. Whether you’re a lifelong reader or just getting started, The Thoughtful Pages Club is open to all who value learning, empathy, and connection.
The JEDI Committee is dedicated to uncovering and honoring the stories of Sykesville’s Black history and the individuals who shaped it. We are embarking on a journey to connect with community members who can share these important narratives and will collaborate with partners to ensure that the rich history of Sykesville is preserved and celebrated where it truly belongs.
Pride Day in Downtown Sykesville is a celebration of love, visibility, and belonging. Join us as we come together to uplift LGBTQ+ voices, support local businesses, and create space where everyone is welcome exactly as they are. Learn more and get involved by visiting the Pride Day page here.
Our Juneteenth celebration is a community-centered celebration honoring freedom, resilience, and Black history through culture, music, education, and connection. The event brings neighbors together to reflect, learn, and celebrate in a way that is welcoming, intentional, and rooted in shared values. Join us as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and continue building a more inclusive future—together.
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, celebrates joy, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness. In Downtown Sykesville, we honor Diwali as a time to come together, learn from one another, and celebrate the rich cultural traditions that make our community stronger. Join us for moments of reflection, connection, and shared celebration as we light up Main Street with meaning, warmth, and belonging.
If you want a slightly more festive or more educational tone, I can tweak it either way ✨
