Promotion Committee

Branding and Operation Projects

This group is a modified version of the Promotion Committee. The Promotion Committee was traditionally planning, staffing, and operating large events. These responsibilities have been taken on by the DSC’s Event Coordinator with the assistance of the DSC Executive Director. In this new framework, the Branding and Operation group can focus on shining a spotlight and bringing awareness about the DSC to the larger community.

The DSC’s workforce is mostly composed of volunteers. The DSC plans on using this unique feature to drive its branding and showcase the organization as a diverse and inclusive team of people with various aspirations and skills, all working together towards improving life in downtown Sykesville.

Project List

  • To brand its image and grow its volunteer base, the DSC will create a video that will showcase all aspects of the DSC’s activities conducted by volunteers. This video will be used on different platforms to share the DSC’s mission and market the organization. This will help develop the DSC’s image as a volunteer group, increase outreach, and support fundraising efforts.

In addition, the DSC will increase its advocacy effort by training its volunteers and Board members to share the mission of the DSC.

  • The DSC also plans on seeking the “Choose Civility” designation to carry the DSC’s message of inclusiveness and to recognize the DSC as an instrumental player in building a community that will remain free of rejection, racism, bullying, or discrimination of any kind. The promotion committee will design campaigns and produce merchandise using this new platform.
  • Organize different types of fundraisers catering to different audiences (e.i.  indoor gala, smaller affairs on the model of “Diner en Blanc,” cultural festival, folklore events such as “Snallygaster/Sykesville Monster Comicon,” etc)
  • Explore Network for good and a promotional tool.
