Meet our Farmers Market Manager
Mary Castle – Sykesville resident & Farmers Market Manager
How long have you lived in Sykesville and what is your favorite aspect of living here?
I was born and raised in Sykesville. As a young adult I moved to Westminster for a while but in 2013 found myself back in Sykesville. There are good pe
ople here, wonderful shops and places to go. This is a cozy small little town with so much
potential to continue to grow
How long have you been partnering with the Downtown Sykesville Connection and what has been your favorite part?
We have been a part of the DSC for about three years now. We started out as just volunteering at the farmer’s market for my kids who were volunteering for service hours. We really liked helping out and meeting all the vendors and customers that come by and interacting with them. Recently I was asked to be the market manager when the former manager left. I jumped at the opportunity to make a difference and continue to bring joy and a beautiful place to be on Sundays in Sykesville at the farmer’s market.
If you are not at the farmer’s market where can people find you?
I have been working for the State of Maryland for 22 years at Springfield Hospital. I live in the small neighborhood on Schoolhouse Road. I volunteer at the Homework Club to help the tutors with all the children that attend. I love writing poetry and am a published author of a book of poetry. I am married and I love to spend time with my family.
